Seal Beach lies on the northernmost border of Orange County, California, between the cities of Long Beach and Huntington Beach. It received its name from the seals that swam the waters of this pleasant and quaint community. Located at the mouth of Alamitos Bay, Seal Beach offers access to the Pacific Ocean from Huntington Harbor. The central location and beautiful weather make it a destination worth exploring, and in fact the city attracts more than 2 million visitors a year. There are many recreational activities to be enjoyed at Seal Beach including surfing, swimming, sailing, kite flying, kite surfing, wind surfing (the location is known as one of the top spots for windsurfing), fishing (deep sea or off the pier), bicycling (there are 30 miles of bike paths), roller blading, or sand castle building (voted number one sand castle beach in the US).

The Old Town area of Seal Beach features a shady Main Street which starts at athe Pier, and features many restaurants and shops. The city itself has a population of less than 25,000 and will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2005.
